It depends on what you burn!
For solid wood stoves, we recommend sweeping every 3 months during the heating season.
For smokeless fuels, bituminous coal, oil, or gas systems, once or twice a year is typically required by insurance and safety standards to prevent soot buildup.

Please make sure your fire/stove has been completely cold and unused for at least 24 hours. - We have turned up to one or two that have been on before!
Clear away any leftover ash, and ensure a clear pathway and about 6 feet of space around the hearth. If you have pets, please do let us say a big hello! As there’s two of us we have been known to play fetch while the other sweeps!

Not at all. We take property protection very seriously, using heavy-duty hearth sheets, high-efficiency HEPA vacuums, and custom seal sheets to trap soot before it escapes.
Your living area will be left as clean as we found it. - Shaun is fastidious, a few customers have tried to ask him back to run the vacuum round the living room!

Plus, autumn and winter fill up very fast, so spring booking guarantees you won't face long wait times when cold weather hits.

Yes. Upon completing the sweep and safety inspection, we issue an official, insurance-recognised Chimney Sweep Certificate for your records and home insurance compliance.

Definitely. You never know how the previous owner maintained (or neglected) the flue.
